As President & CEO of Ohio Southeast Economic Development (OhioSE), Matt Abbott is dedicated to driving economic growth and advancing the prosperity of the entire Southeast Ohio region. A lifelong resident of the area, Matt brings a career grounded in public service through education and local economic development, reflecting his deep commitment to the region’s success.
Before joining OhioSE, Matt served nearly a decade as Executive Director of the Zanesville-Muskingum County Port Authority, where he helped secure close to $1 billion in capital investment and supported the creation of over 1,000 new jobs. He also spearheaded one of the largest land purchase and development deals in the county’s history, further strengthening the foundation for future growth.
Recognized by Ohio Business Magazine in 2022, 2023, and 2024 as one of Ohio’s most influential business leaders, Matt has served on numerous boards and has chaired many organizations focused on business, economic development, education, and healthcare, underscoring his commitment to fostering opportunity and progress across Southeast Ohio.
