A Concert Tribute to Clyde McCoy and His “Sugar Blues” Orchestra at the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts at 8:00 p.m. Join us on a ‘sentimental journey” through the 1940s as Joseph Rubin directs a 15-piece Big Band Orchestra. Transport back to the heyday of an era with tunes from Glenn Miller, Ted Lewis, Benny Goodman, and our own hometown’s famous bandleader, Clyde McCoy. Through his success, McCoy has never forgotten his Portsmouth roots and has returned to perform no less than six times between 1933 and 1942. Tickets are available through the McKinley Box Office, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. For more information or questions, please contact the box office at 740.351.3600 or go online to www.vrcfa.com.
